It’s a weird concept. But when was it? When was the last time you decided to do something new, something spontaneous, something that made adrenalin rush through your body and make you feel alive again? Personally, it’s been a while, but I’ll soon be taking on lots of new experiences.
I remember so clearly being 15/16 years old and sitting on the sofa with my boyfriend. I remember telling him that the next summer I wanted to go abroad to do the infamous Camp America. I always remember wanting to be anywhere else in the world.
But, every year I got so far to a summer away, a new experience, a new adventure but never actually made it. It’s strange how things turn out in the end, as though what i felt at a young age I knew what I’d do when I’m older. I always had that buzz in me to be anywhere but the place I was in.
So this year, I am doing something for the first time. I’m going to travel around Thailand and Vietnam with my best friend.
I know it’s not out of the ordinary for young people to backpack around Asia, everyone seems to do it know a days. But for a girl from a small village in Yorkshire, it’s something amazing to me. More amazing the fact that it’s all coming from my own hard work and saving.
As much as I am excited to see a different part of the world, see how other cultures live, and dip my toes into their stunning blue seas, I’m also very nervous.
We will be alone for almost two months, something I’ve done before, but not in Asia.
I’m going to start doing upcoming blogs on how I prepared for backpacking around Asia, to help first time people like me in the future and also blog whilst out there. I’ve already got a loooot to talk about and it’s still two months away. Keep a look out for my new travel blogs!
